In Fo2 you're swimming in money when you get to San Fran (I always get rich selling shit there). It's not a walk in the park, like in Fallout 2, to get $$$ and good equipment. And there's many mountains, which make your character walk slower than usual. Because you can't get a car, in this mod. Talking about world, the world map is pretty small, but that's not really a bad thing. There's a hopeless atmosphere in this world.
If you liked the dark stuff from Fallout 1, you'll love Fallout 1.5, there's even darker stuff here, not even the poor children are spared. Some of them are very challenging, you'll have to give your best. It has a nice amount of quests, I believe there's more than in the first Fallout. Others may disagree, but I played many mods and these 2 are the only ones I would be interested in playing again (with different characters, of course). This and Restoration project are the only good mods for the classic fallout games. I finished Fo1.5 today, and I really enjoyed it.
